About: Our farm is diverse with honey bees, chickens, small ruminants, market gardening, beef cattle, pasture management. The farm was last owned by my grandparents, Carl and Maggie Brown. My grandfather was a veteran of WWII. I feel due to the experiences my grandfather went through during the war, he shared those with me by incorporating conservative practices and self-sufficiency in his lifestyle. One example of that was by obtaining the farm from his uncle. We raised tobacco for Christmas shopping money, hay, corn to feed the animals and annually harvested our own beef, hog and dairy from cows. We also had a big garden that we canned and froze all our veggies to eat until next year’s garden season. I remember only going to the grocery store for staple items like flour and sugar. Eating out was a treat, not a lifestyle. I’m carrying on my heritage and am happy to share my practices and history with other veterans, so they are welcome to the farm to experience it first-hand. It also thrills my heart to pass the practices and experiences along to my next 2 generations, my daughter and granddaughter.
About: Fleur de Lis Farm TN is a veteran owned, family farm selling flowers, plants, produce, honey, herbs and value added products. The farm is filled with Jersey dairy cows that are milked daily, Scottish Highland cows, duroc pigs, ducks, chickens, guineas, turkeys, geese, quail and myotonic goats. Most of what we eat is raised right here. Food is preserved in various ways and eaten throughout the off- season. Our meat is also harvested and processed here.
About: Pokeadot Hops is a high quality limited production hop, vegetable, honey, eggs, mushrooms, and livestock-miniature donkey and goat producer. We also offer Pokeadot Cabin for an agritourism experience to the beautiful 25-acre parcel nested up to the Cherokee National Forest in East Tennessee. Military combat wounded soldier, Michael Trost and his awesome wife Stephanie ensure a sustainable agricultural practice of growing the freshest and safest agricultural products.

About: Owners are a husband / wife team who are both Army veterans who retired in 2024 / 2025 respectively. We purchased farm in 2018 but have only been on farm full time since summer 2024 upon completion of final assignment. Our farm is a family farm with no outside employees at present but open to host transitioning veterans to provide business mentorship and lower barriers to entry in agriculture. Our current operations include pastured poultry and fruit and vegetable production. The next phase of planned operations will include small ruminant and swine production.
About: We have 77 acres at the corner of Davidson, Wilson and Rutherford County near Mt Juliet. We are in our 3rd full year of farming. We have an established flower farm that we are expanding. We currently have 2 bee hives with 2 more on order for the spring. Additionally, we continue to clear land to provide more area for growth.
About: Louise Bluffs Farm is a Veteran owned cow/calf and hay operation. Jed White has over 10 years of farming experience. Training opportunities with this farm include commercial cow/calf production, freezer beef operations, forage production, hay production and sales and farm machinery maintenance and repair.
About: By Faith Farms has been in operation for over 14 years. They focus on cultivating fresh, nutrient-dense food through natural and sustainable methods. Their farm is volunteer run and led with food grown exclusively for donation and distributed by Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Training opportunities with this farm include horticulture production, animal husbandry, cow/calf management, freezer beef production, equipment operation, fencing, pasture management, you-pick flower gardening, business planning, social media marketing and more!
About: Sweeter Days Farm is a diversified vegetable, cut flower and culinary herb farm. The Bentley’s have been in operation for over 9 years. They sell primarily through community supported agriculture, farmers markets and wholesale to restaurants. They manage roughly 2 full acres of market garden style production utilizing organic growing practices. Training opportunities with this farm include small scale, intensive rotation and succession vegetable and cut flower production from seeding to selling!
About: UT-TSU Extension Montgomery County houses educational programing for agriculture, family and consumer sciences and 4-H youth development through Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee. This internship will focus on the agricultural services they provide. Karla Kean has over 26 years of experience leading as the Extension Agent in the area of horticulture and small farms. Training opportunities with this entity include horticulture therapy, arboriculture, home and garden care, commercial horticulture production and small farm development and production.
About: The USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service is a federal government entity that partners with conservation groups and others to ensure private lands are conserved, restored, and more resilient to environmental challenges. Working side-by-side with farmers and ranchers, the NRCS identifies natural resource concerns such as soil erosion and water quality issues and develops unique conservation plans for restoring and protecting resources.
